What happens when you put two dogs in a bus?

As we travel around New Zealand in our trusty campervan, The Kiwi Blog Bus, we are always entertained by the antics of our fluffy friends, Jess and Pip the travelling dogs.

On occasions I think they are a pain in the rear end and I wonder why we choose to travel with them when often they could stay at home with the teenage son, but then… they look at you with those big eyes and all is forgiven.

Well almost all.. Read More…

More pictures from Thames

We called in at Thames on the way home the other day.
The old gold-mining town in the Coromandel is a particular favourite of ours and we like to stop and have a look round every time we are passing.

This is a selection of photographs taken around historic Pirongia in North Island’s Waikato during our visit there this Easter weekend.

In case you want to know who we are?

I’ve had some business cards made up.

But, actually as I’m not running a business they are more like old-fashioned calling cards or modern-day networking cards – take your pick – but you catch my drift.

I've done a little editing on this particular image and have removed my cell phone number that is printed on the actual cards. Don't take it personally, I just don't want you to know it!

Now don’t jump to hasty conclusions….

A Kiwi spot of Tudor, Anglican and Maori

Time for a snapshot of some New Zealand history and architecture.

There is a quiet little suburb of Rotorua where you can see a Tudor style Anglican church set in a historic and sacred Maori village.

Ohinemutu is the beautiful lakeside setting for St Faith’s Church & Tamatekapua Meeting House.

Move aside work… there is deep thinking to be done

According to the flag counter on this blog (which I check at least ten times daily and it is a source of constant amazement to me) my latest new visitor is from Greece.

I have never been to Greece but as you may or may not know it is on my bucket list.

It just made me wonder if the person in Greece had their own bucket list with New Zealand on it?
Or even, bizarrely (or not) – travelling around New Zealand in a campervan?

Am I not only living my dream life but that of someone else?
Is there someone in Greece, or Peru, living their own dream life but blogging about having New Zealand on their bucket list?

I must learn not to think too deeply about things like this, especially when I have real work to be doing.
I think this is called procrastination.

Did I tell you last week my latest readers were from Mexico and the Bahamas….

I don’t care if my husband is the only person that reads this post

Kiwi Annison is being sneaky and using the blog to give a big Happy Birthday shout out to her lovely lovely bus driver, and husband, Sam.

The  Kiwi Blog Bus and its journeys (and therefore this blog) could not exist without Sam’s wonderful and varied skills.

In the duration of any one trip he may have to wear any of these hats: Driver / Mechanic / Joiner / Bus re-builder / Electrician / Cook / Cleaner / Refuse Man / Lifter of anything heavy / Bike fixer / Playful Dad / Attentive husband / General dogsbody

This is for you Sam 🙂

Dear reader, can you help?

From time to time I post a poll or survey on the blog.

It’s in my nature to ask questions – I’m a journalist and I always want to learn more.

My first survey is now on the Polls/Surveys page (link above).

It will remain there permanently – that way new visitors can also join in the fun!

So, please would you please fill in my little survey?

It’s just 8 easy questions but you have no idea how much you’ll satisfy my natural curiosity!

Please note – no personal information is requested and no data is held on file – this is just me trying to find out more about my readers’ blog desires then I can ask the blog fairy to help grant some wishes!

The Kiwi Blog Bus is stuck on the drive this weekend

We cannot get away in the Kiwi Blog Bus at the moment for a variety of reasons:

  • Sam is mid-way through painting it. The old thing has been in need of some cosmetic work for a while now and the kind people at VTNZ that allowed it through its last COF warned us that we needed to get rid of some rust before the next test or it just won’t get passed. But… it’s looking good I have to say. (I’ll get some renovation pictures on over the weekend)
  • The fifteen-year-old is currently sleeping in it. Read More…

Versatile Blogger award “I’d like to thank…

The Kiwi Blog Bus has been nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award by fellow blogger Tammy Robinson from The Year of Wonderful Weekends.

I don’t receive anything shiny to put on the mantelpiece (which is a good job as I don’t have a mantelpiece) but I can inwardly shine and shimmer away with the knowledge that not only is my blog being read, but enjoyed and recommended to others.

It’s great that my family and friends “like” and “share” my blog, but my heart swells to find out that my pictures and words are being applauded and forwarded around the world by people who I don’t even know!

I love writing my blog almost as much as I love the fact that people actually read it! Read More…
