Cosmetic surgery – on a bus – on the cheap

A "Before" picture

The Kiwi Blog Bus has had a face lift.

It was done at home, on the cheap, but we reckon it looks pretty good.

In case you want to know who we are?

I’ve had some business cards made up.

But, actually as I’m not running a business they are more like old-fashioned calling cards or modern-day networking cards – take your pick – but you catch my drift.

I've done a little editing on this particular image and have removed my cell phone number that is printed on the actual cards. Don't take it personally, I just don't want you to know it!

Now don’t jump to hasty conclusions….

Above board and ready to go

The Kiwi Blog Bus was today inspected by the men with all-seeing eyes at VTNZ and was passed for a new Certificate of Fitness – phew!

For the non-kiwis amongst my readers I should explain that this is a six monthly check carried out to ensure your vehicle is safe and road worthy.

It’s not really a problem for many modern cars (although I once had my car fail as I was driving around with a nail stuck in the tyre!) but when you drive a 1981 Japanese bus you do keep your fingers crossed that you get good news.

A reminder of Pure New Zealand

I stumbled across a video the other day that I’d like to share, in my opinion it’s just fabulous and pure, feel-good New Zealand.

In 2010 Tourism New Zealand  launched “Your Big Break” and asked people to capture the essence of 100% Pure New Zealand and tell the world their story of how they see the youngest country on earth.

Working Day was the winner and you can see all five finalists videos here (Frosty is my personal favourite but I also like Sweet As).

Enjoy Pure New Zealand.

A Kiwi spot of Tudor, Anglican and Maori

Time for a snapshot of some New Zealand history and architecture.

There is a quiet little suburb of Rotorua where you can see a Tudor style Anglican church set in a historic and sacred Maori village.

Ohinemutu is the beautiful lakeside setting for St Faith’s Church & Tamatekapua Meeting House.

Move aside work… there is deep thinking to be done

According to the flag counter on this blog (which I check at least ten times daily and it is a source of constant amazement to me) my latest new visitor is from Greece.

I have never been to Greece but as you may or may not know it is on my bucket list.

It just made me wonder if the person in Greece had their own bucket list with New Zealand on it?
Or even, bizarrely (or not) – travelling around New Zealand in a campervan?

Am I not only living my dream life but that of someone else?
Is there someone in Greece, or Peru, living their own dream life but blogging about having New Zealand on their bucket list?

I must learn not to think too deeply about things like this, especially when I have real work to be doing.
I think this is called procrastination.

Did I tell you last week my latest readers were from Mexico and the Bahamas….

Are you a muggle or a seeker?

And I’m not talking about Harry Potter.

Although you may have been pottering through a park when you spied a seeker; a modern-day treasure hunter partaking in the popular activity of geocaching. Read More…

Meet you at The Mount?

Mount Maunganui is a small town in the Bay of Plenty that takes its name from the extinct volcano that rises above the popular resort.

Situated on a peninsula to the north of Tauranga the area and its beaches are known to most North Islanders as The Mount.

Pilot Bay, Mount Maunganui

Long sandy beaches along with the mild sub-tropical climate that the town enjoys, help ensure that New Zealand’s “Surf City” is one of the most popular summer holiday destinations in the country. Read More…

I don’t care if my husband is the only person that reads this post

Kiwi Annison is being sneaky and using the blog to give a big Happy Birthday shout out to her lovely lovely bus driver, and husband, Sam.

The  Kiwi Blog Bus and its journeys (and therefore this blog) could not exist without Sam’s wonderful and varied skills.

In the duration of any one trip he may have to wear any of these hats: Driver / Mechanic / Joiner / Bus re-builder / Electrician / Cook / Cleaner / Refuse Man / Lifter of anything heavy / Bike fixer / Playful Dad / Attentive husband / General dogsbody

This is for you Sam 🙂

Take the waters in Te Aroha

Old bath houses in Te Aroha domain

Te Aroha is less than an hour away from Cambridge and we often drive through en-route to Thames, Waihi or the Coromandel.

Although we have not stayed there overnight (yet) I thought I would feature Te Aroha in my post today because it’s a pretty little place and I like it! Read More…
