Apparently my dreams and adventures will start at the weekend

It’s not a horoscope.

That’s what I was told when I visited the website for the New Zealand Motorhome & Caravan Show which starts this Friday in Hamilton.

Promoted to enthusiasts of camping, caravanning or any kind of motorhoming – the three-day expo at Claudelands Events Centre is apparently New Zealand’s premier Motorhome & Caravan show.

I think there only used to be one or two names for campervans but it seems the names and choices of “beds on wheels” is expanding every year.

You can attend the show to look at: Camping trailers, pop-tops, fifth wheelers, RVs, motorhomes, campervans, caravans and tents (don’t think the tents are on wheels though).

Plus there will be a whole array of exciting accessories to look at.

We’ve been to motorhome shows before and it’s kind of compulsory to attend if you are doing up a campervan/bus as we are (slowly) attempting with the Kiwi Blog Bus.

In fact we bought our toilet from the show at Hamilton two years ago.

We also got a good deal on a reversing camera and bought home two full carrier bags of leaflets and product information from various companies.

That’s one of the best parts of these kind of shows; research.

You can gather information not by visiting one website after another but by visiting stalls and trying out products there and then.

Also…. you can dream.

You can walk around RVs and fifth wheelers that you know are only an option if you win the lottery, but for a few minutes you can live the dream.
Try them out for size, sit on the sofas, open the kitchen cupboards, check out how big the shower room is.
Then slip your shoes and sensible mind back on and go and grab a coffee and visit the tents.

I’m not being negative – some folks out there must be buying these amazing dream machines – I’m just being realistic and guessing that the majority of visitors are partaking in the totally acceptable hobby of “window shopping’.

Good on’ya.

Apparently there are some fantastic prizes on offer including $150,000 towards a new motorhome.
So there you go… dreams can come true.

If you don’t manage to get to the show check back on my blog at the weekend as I’ll be posting some “live” photos from the event and next week I’ll follow up with a write-up and details of any outstanding products that caught my attention.
