Jess and Pip, were introduced to readers of the Kiwi Blog Bus back in January in this post.
The dogs come with us on every single trip we make in the bus and they just absolutely love it.

Free lakeside camping surrounded by some of New Zealand’s best
There is a quiet little spot that’s not far from our home town of Cambridge and we often go there for a day or two to completely chill out.
We can leave home in our bus and in less than half an hour be parked up (for free) at a large lakeside reserve where we can fish, kayak, swim or just relax.

Sky high in Auckland
If you live in (or have at some point visited) New Zealand then you’ll definitely know it.
If you are in another part of the world (and don’t have a Lonely Planet guide to NZ that you scour every night) then you might not even have heard of it.
I thought I’d blog today about what I consider to be an extremely well-known New Zealand tourist destination: Sky Tower.

How I almost lost my husband in Gisborne
For the past week I have been posting blogs about our trip this summer around the East Cape of New Zealand’s North Island.
I will finish off on this particular road trip with details of our visit to a Gisborne museum: The East Coast Museum of Technology.
As I’ve mentioned previously (see musings) we LOVE museums – of any kind.
We have seen many different varieties from London’s Natural History museum to the Louvre in Paris and Te Papa in Wellington.
We’ve visited several small museums run and owned by one devoted collector or another.

On the road again (part 4 – Pahoia)
So the final night of our Waitangi weekend was spent at another free parking spot provided by the wonderful Western Bay of Plenty District Council.
We travelled a little further around the coast line to Pahoia where we parked just a few feet from the shores edge and quickly threw our kayaks into the water for a paddle around.

So after Paeroa we continued on the road.
Waihi for a lunch stop and then on to the coast.
We found a free overnight spot at Katikati in an authorised car park for self-contained campers.

Simple pleasures in Whakatane
Whakatane in the Eastern Bay of Plenty nestles underneath high bush-clad cliffs beside the sparkling South Pacific Ocean and has one of the most scenic settings any town could wish for.
It also confuses a few overseas visitors with the pronunciation of its name – locally the ‘Wh’ is pronounced as an ‘F’.
